Controlled Movements and Mind - The Differences between Yoga and Pilates

These days, Yoga and Pilates are the it thing to do. It seems as if you cant open a magazine, turn on a television, or read a newspaper without some mention of Yoga or Pilates. It seems anyone who is anyone is doing one or both of these things. Are these the newest fad exercise? Certainly not! Both techniques have been in practice for a long time, and have been time tested and proven. Both of these things are good for you, but the two are often confused. They are different, in many ways.

Yoga is geared towards uniting the mind, body, and spirit. The basic idea is that the mind and body are one, and if given the right tools and environment, the body can find harmony, and heal itself. For this reason, Yoga is considered therapeutic, helping you become more aware of your body, in particular its posture, and alignment. Yoga can help make the body more flexible, and help you relax even when you are under lots of stress. This is the reason that many people are practicing Yoga, to reduce their daily stress placed on them by the fast paced world. Yoga can help the body feel more fit, energetic, happy, and peaceful. There are many styles of Yoga, but no style is better than another, it is a matter of personal preference or need. Yoga is very good for whole body health and well being.

Pilates seeks to achieve the same goals, also through a series of controlled movements, but the main difference is that Pilates uses not only mat work, but also machines. These exercises are geared towards strengthening the abdominal muscles, improve posture, and to stabilize and lengthen the spine, improving balance and strength. Pilates is aimed at giving you a longer, leaner line, much like that of a dancer. Pilates works the whole body, with an emphasis on control, and on both mind and body, focusing on quality over quantity. Slow, controlled movements are the key element here, rather than quick, high impact movements of a traditional workout. The abdomen, lower back, and buttocks are the center of all movement, and thus they are the focus of Pilates. Pilates is low impact, and therefore good for injury prevention and rehabilitation. Pilates is quite good, if not ideal, for body sculpting.

If you still cannot decide between the two, try doing both! Yoga and Pilates are wonderful when used together! The basic natures of these two techniques make them complement each other very nicely. You can integrate the breathing techniques of Yoga into Pilates, and the stabilization techniques of Pilates into Yogathe possibilities are endless. The two techniques work well together for those who want a whole body health and wellness routine as well as body sculpting.

The Xbox 360 3 Red Light Fix Can Be Done Yourself

Seeing 3 Red Lights on your xbox 360 is like buying a car and having the wheels fall off. microsoft is now receiving 1,500 to 2,500 broken 360s per day in UK alone. UK repair centers are now redistributing faulty consoles to foreign repair centers in order to clear an overwhelming backlog and keep up with the 1,500 to 2,500 xbox 360s arriving at its doors on a daily basis, according to customer reports. The numbers are steadily rising like gas prices.

The main reason so many of these consoles are giving up the ghost is because of heat. The xbox 360 mother board is similar to that of a regular Desktop PC with a powerful graphics chip. The only problem is that they can't dissipate the heat that the graphics chip is producing like a Desktop PC can.

Those after market Intercoolers can do more good than bad to your console. They have been reported to scorch the power AC input. microsoft also stated that some intercoolers drains too much power from the console and can cause the errors to occur.

You should move your console if it sits inside of an entertainment center or is enclosed in a tight space. It has to be able pull in air and get rid of heat freely. Although this is not the cause of the 3 xbox 360 red light error, it can't hurt to try.

Another problem the xbox 360 has with heat is that it causes the motherboard to flex. When this happens it stresses the solder joints causing micro cracks. This results in poor connections to the tiny resistors under the graphics chip.

There are two clamps called X clamps that hold down the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit -aka- graphics chip) and the CPU (Central Processing Unit -aka- the brain). They don't do such a good job of holding the heat sinks that are suppose to cool these chips down.

These heat sinks get so hot that they melt the thermal compound between them and the two chips. This causes the two chips to com in direct contact with the heat sinks that get so hot that you can literally fry an egg on them.

If you don't feel comfortable opening your xbox 360 console then you should send it back to microsoft and let them fix it. Let me warn you that you will have to wait 4 to 6 weeks to get it back because you number 1 million and something in line. The Fix can be done yourself. With all those billions, why microsoft designed the xbox 360 the way they did is a mystery.

Cisco CCNP Certification / BSCI Exam Tutorial: Comparing IRDP And HSRP

To pass the BSCI exam, you need to know the difference between IRDP and HSRP. While they have the same basic function, the operation and configuration of each are totally different.

The aim of both is to allow hosts to quickly discover a standby router when the primary router fails. IRDP is commonly used by Windows DHCP clients and several Unix variations, but you do see it in Cisco routers as well. IRDP is defined in RFC 1256.

IRDP routers will multicast Hello messages that host devices hear. If a host hears from more than one IRDP router, it will choose one as its primary and will start using the other router if the primary it's chosen goes down.

HSRP is a Cisco-proprietary protocol that is designed for quick cutover to a secondary router if the primary fails, but the host devices don't "see" either the primary or secondary router. The hosts use a virtual router as their default gateway. This virtual router has its own IP and mac address! All the while, the router chosen as the primary is actually the one doing the routing. If the primary router goes down, the secondary router quickly takes over with no major interruption to network services.

The HSRP routers communicate by multicasting updates to 224.0.0.2, and its through these hellos that the HSRP routers decide which router is primary and which is secondary. HSRP is defined in RFC 2281.

The configuration of each of these will be covered in a future tutorial. In the meantime, I urge you to read the RFCs mentioned in this article, and visit www.cisco.com/univercd to read about the configurations and options available for both of these vital protocols.
